Dear JRCS Families,

Student drop-off and pick-up is a very busy time at JRCS. We have already learned some challenges and implemented some solutions in an effort to improve the drop-off and pick-up procedure. Please read and put into effect the following procedures.

General Information:

  • School starts at 8:00 am. Students that are not in their classrooms and ready to learn by this time will be considered tardy.
  • Gates open at 7:45 am and close promptly at 8:00 am.  Starting at 8:01 am, parents will need to park in the front parking lot and walk their child into the office to check in.
  • Be your child’s best example. Please be courteous and follow all safety guidelines at all times.
  • Follow all directions from school personnel. They can see potential problems you may not.
  • Students are to be picked up promptly at dismissal.
  • Please drive slowly and watch for the children! Please, no texting while driving in the loading zone.

Drop-off:

  • Please stay off your cell phone while dropping off your child.
  • There is no parking in the drop-off lane or area.
  • Please stay in your vehicle at all times.
  • Pull your car as far forward as traffic allows.
  • Students will unload from the PASSENGER SIDE of the vehicle only. The driver will remain in the vehicle at all times, with all driver-side doors remaining closed. No trunk unloading is allowed in this zone.
  • Have all school materials, including backpack and lunch, ready before the student exits the vehicle.
  • Keep pulling forward and fill in all gaps in Loading Zone Lane.
  • Please drive at a safe speed and no cutting in line.
  • There is NO PARKING during dropoff.

Pick-up:

  • It is helpful for all cars to have a name card pick-up sign viewable through the windshield. This courtesy helps speed up the process. If you did not have a chance to make one at Back to School Night, you can stop in the office for a piece of paper and make one at home using the example below. If you do not have a name card pick-up sign, please roll down your window along the middle lane and let staff know your child’s name, grade, and their teacher’s name.
  • The traffic flow at pick-up time will have two lanes of cars loading students (please see below).  Although this may seem a little overwhelming, we are confident that the plan in place will work smoothly and help speed up the pick-up process.  As we want to be considerate of everyone’s time and have things run as smoothly as possible, please be aware that if you are in the group of cars loading students but your child is not loaded into your car when the group is released, you will be asked to pull forward with the rest of the group so that you may park in the front parking lot and walk to the NE gate to pick-up your child.
  • Students will be loading cars from the middle lane between the cars. If you need to move car seats, please do that before you arrive or pull into the lane that accommodates your requirement.
  • For parents that are parking and walking to the NE gate to pick up children, please know that we will be modifying our system to help expedite the process.
    • If you plan to pick up your child from the NE gate this year, please email your teacher to let them know. This will help us create a list of names so those children can be grouped together and ready to go at the end of the day.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding with us, and each other, as we implemented these new process to ensure student safety and continue to strive for more efficient drop-off/pick-up procedures.

Sincerely,
Juniper Ridge Community School
